Chalk up another addition out of the transfer portal for the Texas Tech basketball team.
The Red Raiders have earned a commitment from Wyoming transfer Damarion Dennis, On3 reported on Sunday night. Dennis is a 6-foot-1 guard.
A native of San Antonio, Dennis comes to Texas Tech with two years of eligibility remaining after spending one year at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and last year at Wyoming, where he averaged 11.2 points and 3.2 rebounds per game, shooting 52% overall, 34% from 3-point range and 86.1% from the free throw line.
What Wyoming transfer Damarion Dennis brings to Texas Tech basketball
Hard to say for sure what role Dennis will play with the Red Raiders, but the team needs as many options as it can get right now.
Dennis saw his production shoot up after transferring to Wyoming from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, going from 6.7 points to 11.2 points per game as a sophomore. His 3-point percentage dipped a touch (38.7% to 34.0%) but nothing jarring.
Dennis will likely come off the bench for Texas Tech, as he has the first two years of his career. He started 19 of 32 games at Wyoming last year and tallied two points, making his only field goal attempt, in the Cowboys’ trip to Lubbock last season.
