Pontiac man charged with fatally stabbing father's live-in girlfriend

Pontiac — A 22-year-old Pontiac man was arrested early Saturday after he allegedly fatally stabbed his father’s live-in girlfriend, according to Oakland County Sheriff’s officials.

The incident happened shortly after midnight inside a home in the 30 block of North Roselawn in Pontiac, according to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office. The suspect lived in the home with his father and his father’s girlfriend, 57-year-old Monique Taylor, sheriff’s officials said.

“Deputies were dispatched to the scene after the father of the suspect called 911 and reported that his son had stabbed the father’s girlfriend,” the release said. “Upon their arrival, deputies found … Taylor lying on a bedroom floor and bleeding heavily with multiple stab wounds to her torso, arms and hands.”

Taylor was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead, officials said.

“Deputies found the son, who lived in the home with his father and Taylor, in the kitchen area of the home,” sheriff’s officials said. “The bloody kitchen knife was found nearby. The suspect was arrested without incident.

“The father was in the living room at the time of the incident and went to investigate when he heard the commotion,” deputies said. “His son informed the father his girlfriend was dead.”

Oakland County Sheriff’s detectives are expected to turn the case over to prosecutors for possible charges on Monday, the release said.

“Detectives continue to investigate a possible motive for the stabbing,” the release said.

There were four homicides in Pontiac in 2025, the second-most in Oakland County behind the seven killings in Southfield.

Saturday’s killing marked at least the third homicide in 2026, and the second in two weeks. In addition to Taylor’s killing, 28-year-old Keyonte Javon Smith was fatally shot April 11 during an apparent robbery.

In January, 19-year-old Cornelius Murphy Jr. was found dead in a Pontiac field with a fatal gunshot wound to the chest. Kqualin Douglas, 19, turned himself in to sheriffs and was charged with second-degree murder.
