In a Wednesday afternoon update, the Emmet County Office of Emergency Management reported that flood conditions remain variable across the county but are showing signs of improvement.
The Pellston Regional Airport remains closed, and the closure is now expected to stretch into next week. Airport officials said in a Facebook post that discussions with the FAA about flight safety issues as a result of water on the airfield has extended the runway closure until Monday morning.
“We continue to monitor and have conversations with all agencies impacted by the flooding including the airlines, cargo carriers and our tenants that operate aircraft in and out of Pellston,” the airport’s Facebook post reads. “Thank you for your continued understanding.”
According to the latest update from the Emmet County Road Commission, the following closures and impacts also remain in effect:
Officials encourage residents to report damage to their homes or property to assist with local and state damage assessments at this link. Residents can also call 2-1-1 for assistance with non-emergency needs, including reporting flood damage and accessing available resources.
