A Wichita Falls businessman said he will launch a new internet platform designed to connect people with unique local experiences.
Dwayne Jackson, owner of the Wichita Theatre plans a launch in May for HubTreks, but the landing page and pre-registration is already in place at www.hubtreks.com.
“What I’m doing basically is creating a regional ecosystem where the consumer and businesses can meet to explore things to do in this area, discover that place that they didn’t know existed or forgot about,” Jackson said.
He said the general public can go to the site to find things to do and build an itinerary.
“Let’s go to the Wichita Theater and then go eat dinner over here or we’re going to go to the symphony,” he said. “They can build basically their plan of attack.”
He said the site will not be confined to activities in Wichita Falls but will include Vernon and Lawton and other parts of the region with the hopes of expanding to include other regional hubs.
“The idea is just to meld these hubs nationwide,” Jackson said.
A press release for the site said small businesses are struggling to reach customers through traditional digital channels like social media and email.
Jackson said he will add an extra layer of benefits behind a paywall at a later date.
“HubTreks brings those businesses together under one unified platform that actively markets and promotes local experiences,” the media release said.
Jackson said he’s trying to bring businesses on board for a fee of $75 for banner advertisements on the site.
