The suspect in Ashley Okland’s killing appeared in court on Friday, April 10, for a motion to reduce her bond and a separate motion to quash an anticipated search warrant of her phone.
Kristin Ramsey, 53, was charged last month with first-degree murder in the 15-year-old cold case. Okland, 27, was working as a real estate agent when she was shot twice in a West Des Moines townhome she was showing for sale on April 8, 2011.
Ramsey has declared her innocence in court filings. Her lawyers asked a Dallas County judge to reduce her bond from $2 million so she can aid in her defense from home.
A court document prosecutors filed this week says a witness placed Ramsey at the scene shortly after Okland was shot. Defense attorneys argued the filing is misleading.
The judge will rule on the bond request at a later date.
