Someone who was walking south on the Lansing River Trail near the Brenke Fish Ladder spotted the body early Thursday afternoon and called police, Lansing Police Public Information Director Jordan Gulkis said.

The Capital Area Dive Team responded and recovered the remains, which were turned over to the medical examiner’s office, she said.

It was unclear how long it might take to identify the remains.
