Jamar Warren was given 7.25 to 20 years in prison on Monday by another Macomb County Circuit Court judge, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel’s office said.

“We cannot tolerate violent threats made against judges for simply doing their job,” Nessel said in a statement. “Intimidating a judge is an attack on the rule of law itself and undermines the entire judicial system. My office will continue to take such threats seriously and prosecute individuals who commit these crimes to the fullest extent of the law.”

Warren’s attorney, Micheal B. Kilpatrick, was not immediately available for comment on Wednesday.

Officials said the 31-year-old allegedly threatened Macomb County Circuit Judge Kathryn Viviano after she sentenced him to one to four years in prison for two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon in 2022.

Authorities said Warren told Viviano, “I’m going to shoot you lady when I get out (expletive)” during a Nov. 16, 2022, video conference. He made the threat after the judge handed down the sentence and before sheriff’s deputies removed him from a conference room.

State prosecutors charged the defendant with making a terrorist threat or false report of terrorism in April 2023. The crime is punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

Warren pleaded guilty to the charge in January 2026, according to Nessel’s office. In exchange for his plea, prosecutors dropped a charge of using a computer to commit a crime and Warren’s habitual status.

Warren is among the Michigan residents recently accused of making a terrorist threat or false report of terrorism.

In October, a Livonia man who allegedly suggested an Oakland County election official be hanged for treason asked the U.S. Supreme Court to block the county from prosecuting him.

In March 2025, a Michigan State University student from Metro Detroit was charged with allegedly posting a threat against the school on social media.

Two years ago, a Bedford Township man was charged after he allegedly made statements that he had the means to carry out threats, that he would “not be taken out in handcuffs,” and that he was “writing his manifesto.”
