Port Huron, MI – Lake Huron Medical Center (LHMC) proudly announced today the launch of the DAISY Award® for Extraordinary Nurses, a nationally recognized program that honors and celebrates the compassionate care nurses provide to patients and families every day.

The announcement was made during a special kickoff event held at the hospital, marking the return of this meaningful recognition program and reaffirming Lake Huron Medical Center’s commitment to celebrating the vital role nurses play in delivering high-quality care.

The DAISY Award is part of the DAISY Foundation’s mission to recognize the clinical skills and heartfelt compassion nurses bring to their work. Patients, families, and team members will have the opportunity to nominate nurses who go above and beyond in making a difference.

“At Lake Huron Medical Center, our nurses are the heart of everything we do,” said Anisha Sheth, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, Chief Nursing Officer. “Bringing the DAISY Award program back allows us to formally recognize the extraordinary compassion, dedication, and clinical excellence our nurses demonstrate every single day.”

Nurses selected to receive the DAISY Award will be honored throughout the year in front of their colleagues, patients, and leadership. Each honoree will receive a certificate, a DAISY Award pin, and a hand-carved sculpture entitled A Healer’s Touch, symbolizing the meaningful difference nurses make in the lives of others.

The DAISY Foundation was established in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who passed away from
complications of an autoimmune disease. His family created the foundation to thank nurses for
the care and compassion they provide.

Nominations for the DAISY Award are now open and available to patients, visitors, and staff. More information on how to submit a nomination will be shared throughout the hospital and on Lake Huron Medical Center’s website.

Lake Huron Medical Center is proud to celebrate its nursing team and looks forward to recognizing those who exemplify extraordinary patient care.
