Guards John Blackwell and Nick Boyd have combined to average 63 points in Wisconsin’s first two Big Ten Tournament games at the United Center in Chicago.
They might need to do that again for the No. 23 Badgers (24-9) to defeat No. 2 Michigan (30-2) for the second time this season in a semifinal game Saturday, March 14.
Boyd and Blackwell had 69 points in a 91-88 overtime victory over No. 9 Illinois in the quarterfinals Friday, March 13. Boyd finished with a career-high 38. It was the second consecutive game in which the team’s scoring record for a Big Ten Tournament game was broken. Blackwell had 34 in a victory over Washington on Thursday, March 12.
It may take an even more heroic effort against the Wolverines. Michigan won 17 of 18 league games this season, with its only loss to Wisconsin. It was the first of four Badgers victories against top-10 teams; three of them have been away from home.

The Wolverines have been dominant most of the season, winning 24 of their 30 victories by 10 points or more. Their only other loss is to No. 3 Duke in Washington, D.C., and they’re the only team with five wins over top-10 teams.
