It’s pretty safe to say that Notre Dame lacrosse is back, and on Saturday they proved that once again with a 9-8 victory over host Ohio State.
Both teams entered the contest undefeated and in the top-10, but the Irish come out victorious and will keep its top ranking while beating the Big Ten foe. Notre Dame improves to 5-0 at this early junction of the season, as they trailed at the half.
The Irish battled back to tie it at 4-4 early in the third, but the Buckeyes took back the lead heading into the fourth, 6-5. It was back-and-forth all game, as you would expect in a matchup of this caliber. Ohio State would hold a 8-7 lead with less than seven minutes remaining in the game, then Notre Dame turned it on.
Luke Miller got the equalizer and then Josh Yago gave the Irish the lead and they’d hold on as the Buckeyes threatened in the final minutes. The win keeps Notre Dame’s record clean, as three of the victories have come on the road, two of them being against ranked opponents.
The Irish will be back on the field as they’ll take on Michigan on Saturday afternoon at home.
