President Donald Trump will deliver the State of the Union address, which gives Americans an update on how the country is doing — and Trump says get ready for a “long speech.”
Trump will address the nation in his second administration on Tuesday, Feb. 24, and touted his successes ahead of the speech, saying the country is “doing well,” according to CNN reporting.
“We have the greatest economy we’ve ever had. We have the most activity we’ve ever had. I’m making a speech tomorrow night, and you’ll be hearing me say that,” Trump said, while adding that the address will be lengthy given “there is so much to talk about.”
Trump did speak before a joint session of Congress in March of last year, but that address was not officially considered a State of the Union. In a president’s first year in office, it is common to give an early speech outlining priorities, with formal State of the Union addresses beginning in the years that follow.
