Florida’s relentless recruiting push turns heads at UA Orlando camp

The message from Florida’s coaching staff at Sunday’s Under Armour All-American camp was unmistakable: The Gators are recruiting with urgency and with purpose.

From Tampa to Sarasota to Orlando, multiple four-star prospects described a staff that text daily, evaluates honestly and radiates energy inside the building.

“Everyone on the staff text me,” Tampa Jesuit linebacker Kaden Henderson said. “That means a lot. No other staff does that: only Florida does that.”

Quarterback David Davidson called head coach Jon Sumrall “one of the most energetic coaches I’ve been around,” adding that the energy “flows throughout the facility.”

Defensive linemen echoed a similar theme. Tyler Alexander emphasized consistency. Maleek Lee praised position coach Gerald Chatman for authenticity, saying he “doesn’t try to take talk.”

The Gators also appear intent on locking down in-state talent, with heavy attention on prospects from Orlando, Jacksonville and the Gulf Coast, including 2028 edge rusher Asher Ghioto, who said Florida continues to push him as a priority.

In a recruiting cycle defined by SEC competition, Florida’s strategy is simple — outwork, out-communicate and out-develop.

If Sunday’s buzz is any indication, the message is landing.
