Gene Autry, Vista Chino reopen in Palm Springs; Indian Canyon closed

Vista Chino and North Gene Autry Trail through the wash have been reopened following closures due to flooding, even as Indian Canyon Drive remained closed.

The Palm Springs Police Department announced Vista Chino, from Clubhouse View Drive through the wash was reopened at 7:32 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 19. At 9:25 a.m., police announced North Gene Autry Trail from East Via Escuela to Salvia Road had been reopened.

Vista Chino had been closed since 11:10 a.m. Wednesday, while Gene Autry had been closed since 10:14 a.m. Wednesday.

Palm Springs had received around 0.53 inches of rain from a storm in the early hours Wednesday morning. Further from the mountains, Coachella Valley cities received less rain, with Cathedral City measuring just 0.12 inches.

Strong wind also pelted Palm Springs, which could see another bout of rain on Friday.
