With the 2025 NFL season officially in the rearview, all 32 teams, including the Los Angeles Rams, are preparing for the future, and that means deciding what they’ll do with their pending free agents.
For Los Angeles, one of their top free agents this offseason is defensive back Kam Curl, who is coming off a two-year, $9 million contract, where he played 33 of 34 possible games and recorded 201 tackles, 14 passes defensed, three sacks, three forced fumbles, two interceptions and one fumble recovery.
Pro Football Focus released their free agent rankings and projected contracts for some of the top players hitting the market, and they have Curl listed as No. 35 and project that he’ll receive a two-year, $17.5 million deal with $13 million guaranteed.
“The former seventh-round pick parlayed an impressive start to his career with Washington into two more solid years with the Rams,” they wrote. “Curl will be only 27 years old for the 2026 season and allowed just one touchdown in coverage this season. His 81.8 PFF overall grade over the past four years ranks 13th among qualifying safeties.”
With Curl listed as the second-best safety on the market, behind Kansas City’s Bryan Cook, he’ll likely be a top option for a team looking for back-end help.
Los Angeles has Kam Kinchens locked up through 2027, and Quentin Lake under contract through 2028 on his new extension. This may preclude Les Snead and Sean McVay from retaining another Curl in free agency.
