Liam Coen provides latest update on Jaguars' Travis Hunter

As the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Travis Hunter continues to work his way back from a knee injury, he seems to be progressing quite well.

Hunter suffered a season-ending knee injury in practice prior to the Jaguars’ Week 9 matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders.

During Super Bowl week, head coach Liam Coen caught up with CBS Sports’ Pete Prisco to provide an update on Hunter’s progress.

“First and foremost,” Coen said, “Travis looks great right now. I actually was in the weight room working out last week, saw him bouncing around, bouncing through. Looks great. Walking around. He’s excited. This was a minor setback for a major comeback, and he’s extremely mentally tough. He’s resilient. He’s never had a major injury like this in his career, but he’s attacked it the right way.”

Since the 2025 season ended, both Coen and James Gladstone have made it clear that Hunter will continue to play both ways. However, what exactly his playing and practice time looks like heading into 2026 still remains to be seen.

Given the current state of the roster, there may be a greater need for Hunter at cornerback than wide receiver. And as far as what his day-to-day schedule looks like, that will continually be adjusted based on what Hunter and the team needs.

“We’re going to continue to be able to evaluate,” Coen added. “Alright, what does the schedule look like? Where do we need him more in on this day or as a team and we’ll continue to be fluid with that. But I’m excited about adding Travis back into the fold, getting him back in because when you’re hurt like that, nothing hurts you more as a player.”

Whether he’s playing cornerback or wide receiver, Hunter’s a natural and his playmaking abilities are evident. The Jaguars are invested in maximizing that potential.
