The Almost-Annual Crappie Derby at Dorchester Park is officially happening in 2026.
After several years of cancellations, the event, hosted by the Whitney Point Sportsmen’s Association, is finally returning to Whitney Point Lake in Dorchester Park on Feb. 14, according to a Facebook post from the association.
Here’s what to know about the 2026 Almost-Annual Crappie Derby event.
When does the crappie derby start?
In a Jan. 16 Facebook post, the association confirmed the event will begin at 8 a.m. Feb. 14. However, registration begins at 7 a.m. and participants must be registered in order to win prizes.
The event is free for children under 12 years old and $10 for ages 13 and older, according to a Jan. 30 Facebook post from the association.
Along with the derby itself, the event will also feature food, drinks and kid giveaways throughout the day.
