A Michigan State Police trooper rescued a deer that was trapped in a wrought iron fence on Monday, Feb. 9, in East Grand Rapids.
MSP Sgt. Scott Wehler and a home owner removed the deer’s leg from the fence and released it
“The deer appeared unharmed and trotted off once released,” the MSP Sixth District said in a post on X on Feb. 9.
Wehler was dispatch to a home in East Grand Rapids at 8:15 a.m. Monday.
The deer had failed to clear the roughly 4-foot-tall fence and caught its left rear leg between two bars along the top. The animal was trapped with its leg awkwardly bent behind it.
Wehler lifted the animal’s head and body off the ground while the homeowner pulled the leg from the fence.
