The Los Angeles Lakers have won eight of their last 11 games, and they’re just two games into a long homestand that consists of eight straight games at home and 15 of 18 overall at Crypto.com Arena. They will look to continue their newfound momentum on Monday against the defending NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder.
For Monday’s game, Luka Doncic will miss his second straight game due to a hamstring ailment he suffered on Thursday against the Philadelphia 76ers. Starting center Deandre Ayton missed Saturday’s win over the Golden State Warriors with knee soreness, but he’s listed as probable for Monday’s contest.
Rookie forward Adou Thiero is still out with an MCL sprain, but he has reportedly been assigned to the South Bay Lakers, L.A.’s G League affiliate, to take part in practice.
The Thunder will also be short-handed for this matchup. Reigning MVP and scoring champion Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has an abdominal strain and will be out, and three of their other players will also sit.
On the other hand, Jalen Williams, who had missed Oklahoma City’s last 10 games with a hamstring strain, is expected to return versus Los Angeles.
Los Angeles will hit the court at Crypto.com Arena again on Tuesday to face Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs, who are second in the Western Conference and have a four-game winning streak. It will then host the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday before the All-Star break.
