Iowa basketball (17-5, 7-4 Big Ten) returns from a two-game sweep of its Pacific Northwest road trip for a matchup against Northwestern (10-13, 2-10 Big Ten) on Sunday afternoon from Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

The Hawkeyes are on their first five-game winning streak since the 2021-22 campaign, thanks to an 84-74 victory at Washington on Feb. 4 in Seattle, Wash. In the win over the Huskies, senior guard Bennett Stirtz once again dominated for the Hawkeyes with a team-leading 22 points on 8-for-13 from the field, 4-for-8 from 3-point territory, and 2-for-4 at the free-throw line.

Northwestern enters today’s matchup having dropped its last contests and as losers of eight of its last ten games, with its two Big Ten wins coming against USC and Penn State. In their last outing on Feb. 4 (84-44 loss at No. 6 Illinois), the 44 points scored were a season-low for the Wildcats, with no players finishing in double figures.

Senior forward Nick Martinelli is leading the team in scoring with 22.8 points on 53.5% shooting, 46.% from 3-point territory, and 79.5% from the free-throw line, to go along with 6.5 rebounds. Along with his team-leading 30 3-point field goals made, the 6-foot-7 forward has taken 134 more shots than anyone else on the Wildcat roster.
