Popular halal restaurant Halal N Out has opened its third Rochester-area location at 2761 East Henrietta Road in Henrietta.
When Naz Mayan opened Halal N Out in Irondequoit in 2023, he was among the first in Rochester to highlight dishes made popular on New York City’s ubiquitous halal food carts. The restaurant developed a following thanks to its authentic flavors, generous servings and reasonable prices. Since then, there has been a proliferation of halal restaurants in the Rochester area serving similar menus.
Its best seller is a platter of chopped chicken thighs over rice, served with an iceberg lettuce salad and drizzled with a tangy white sauce. The fragrant dish is served fast casual style, so customers can embellish it with their favorite vegetables and toppings. Some add a thick red hot sauce that packs a punch.
The menu also includes the chopped cheese, a gooey sandwich that’s another NYC specialty. Halal N Out also offers Buffalo chicken wings, Philly cheesesteaks, jerk chicken and much more.
Mayan is a proud New Yorker. He was born in Afghanistan, migrated to New York City at age three and grew up in Queens. His extended family owns halal carts, restaurants, bakeries and real estate in various cities. Three family members established the first locations of Halal N Out in Brooklyn and Long Island.
Halal N Out is also at 740 East Ridge Road in the Ridge Hudson Plaza in Irondequoit and at 2833 West Ridge Road in Ridgemont Plaza in Greece. Mayan is also at work on another location at 499 Monroe Ave. near downtown Rochester; he expects to open in February.
