Ionia County under winter advisory with extreme cold on the way

A winter weather advisory remains in effect for Ionia County until 7 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 20, according to the National Weather Service.

Residents should expect blowing snow, with accumulations up to three inches and wind gusts up to 35 miles per hour. Roads will be slick and hazardous, according to NWS, and conditions could change rapidly over short distances in lake effect snow.

The area also faces extreme cold in the coming days, with expected highs and lows in the teens and single digits until Wednesday, then dropping into the single digits and negatives by Friday.
