The man suffered a gunshot wound to his neck, Rockport Police Chief Nathan Anderson told the Caller-Times on Dec. 26.

Police had not found a motive in the shooting or made an arrest as of Dec. 26.

Young people walking through the neighborhood spotted the man standing on his front porch at 710 N. Ann St. trying to get their attention after the shooting, which happened at about 12:45 p.m., according to police.

The man is in stable condition after EMS took him to the hospital on Dec. 25, Anderson said.

Detectives worked throughout the afternoon and evening of Dec. 25 gathering information, and scene processing and extensive resources provided by the Texas Rangers, whom the police department called to the scene to investigate, could help uncover evidence, Anderson said.

The police spoke with the youth and the mother of one of the youth, though they are not releasing the details of those interview, he said.

They plan to interview the man depending on his condition to try to find out what led to the shooting, Anderson said.

Police recovered a pistol at the scene, though they do not know who it belonged to, he said.

The couple were the only people in their home at the time of the shooting, Anderson said.

An autopsy will be performed on the female victim.
