A West Harrison man was charged with possessing and distributing child sex abuse materials on two separate occasions, according to the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office.
Westchester County District Attorney Susan Cacace said Richard Salerno Jr., 46, a former athletics staff member at a Westchester school, was arrested and charged with possessing and promoting an obscene sexual performance by a child, both felonies.
Cacace said a felony complaint filed against Salerno claimed that on two separate occasions in 2024 and 2025, he possessed and shared media of children being sexually abused.
He was arraigned on the charges in Rye Town Court on Dec. 11 and pleaded not guilty. Bail was set at $5,000 cash, $10,000 bond and $25,000 partially secured bond. Cacace said Salerno posted bail and is scheduled to appear in Harrison Town Court on Jan. 13.
“As I promised during the campaign, crimes against or involving children are a top priority for my administration,” Cacace said. “We will seek to hold accountable anyone who targets, exploits or injures children as part of their criminal conduct.”
Anyone with information on the defendant and the case is asked to call the District Attorney’s Office Tip Line at 914-995-8477.
