Coroner IDs Mason man who drowned with dogs in Voice of America park pond

The Butler County Coroner’s Office has identified the Mason man who died alongside two large dogs in a pond at Voice of America MetroPark.

Sun Yue, 36, died in an accidental drowning at the park shortly before noon Dec. 17, according to a coroner’s office news release.

Park maintenance had called 911 just after 8 a.m. when they found a cellphone, keys and a dog leash near the edge of the pond, West Chester Fire Chief Rick Prinz said.

Yue may have been walking his dogs off their leash when they entered the water, causing him to go in after them, Prinz said.

The pond is about 30 feet deep.
