Just before it’s about to get serious competition from the new Gordie Howe International Bridge, set to open in early 2026, the Ambassador Bridge is announcing increased toll fees for the new year.
The Ambassador Bridge on its website announced the following toll changes effective Jan. 1:
Opened in 1929, the Ambassador Bridge over the Detroit River between the U.S. and Canada is the busiest international border crossing in North America in terms of trade volume, carrying more than 25% of all merchandise trade between the two nations by value.
The Gordie Howe International Bridge, located about 3 miles south of the Ambassador Bridge over the Detroit River, is expected to open sometime in early 2026 and has not yet announced its toll rates.
