Breaking down Packers' final injury report of Week 13 vs. Lions

The Green Bay Packers ruled out wide receiver Jayden Reed, defensive end Lukas Van Ness, defensive tackle Karl Brooks and receiver Savion Williams and listed linebacker Quay Walker, receiver Matthew Golden, cornerback Keisean Nixon and cornerback Nate Hobbs as questionable on the final injury report before facing the Detroit Lions in Week 13 of the 2025 season.

How will the injury situation affect Thursday’s NFC North showdown?

Here’s an in-depth breakdown of the Packers’ final injury report ahead of Week 13:

Out (4)

WR Jayden Reed (collarbone/foot): The Packers did not activate Reed from injured reserve on Wednesday. He’ll miss at least one more game, but a return in Week 14 — after the mini-bye and with a full week of practice beforehand — looks probable.

DE Lukas Van Ness (foot): Van Ness returned after missing five games on Sunday but played only six snaps. He was seen coming off the field in pain in the first half, and Matt LaFleur said he “wasn’t feeling it.” While considered day to day moving forward, Van Ness will miss a sixth game in the last seven weeks — stunting what was a breakout start to his third season. Kingsley Enagbare will remain the top backup behind Micah Parsons and Rashan Gary.

DL Karl Brooks (ankle): Brooks played only four snaps against the Vikings and wasn’t able to practice this week. Without him available, expect the Packers to play Devonte Wyatt, Colby Wooden and Warren Brinson at defensive tackle, with a sprinkle of Nazir Stackhouse on run downs. Brinson had a sack and five pressures in a bigger role last week. The defensive front can’t afford an in-game injury.

WR/KR Savion Williams (foot): The rookie has been fighting through a foot injury that has kept him in a walking boot for weeks. This rest opportunity is probably overdue. Williams has labored on kickoffs, lacking explosiveness. He needs a chance to get healthy. Bo Melton could be the primary kickoff returner on Thursday in Detroit.

Questionable (4)

LB Quay Walker (stinger): Walker hasn’t gone through a real practice since before Week 11, so he’ll likely be a true game-time decision on Thursday. Without him last week, the Packers used Isaiah McDuffie as a starter next to Edgerrin Cooper and Ty’Ron Hopper in a supporting role as the third off-ball linebacker. With or without Walker, the linebackers have a big test upcoming in Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery.

WR Matthew Golden (wrist): The signing of Will Sheppard from the practice squad suggests Golden is in real jeopardy of missing a second straight game. The shoulder is no longer an issue, but the wrist injury — suffered in New York in Week 11 — is the problem now. The Packers could be lacking explosiveness at receiver if Golden and Reed can’t go.

CB Keisean Nixon (stinger): The door to playing remains opens for Nixon, who suffered the stinger on Sunday. If he can’t go, and Nate Hobbs is out or limited, Kamal Hadden would likely make his first career NFL start after getting his first real NFL action on Sunday against the Vikings. Expect Nixon to push to play.

CB Nate Hobbs (knee): He’s missed three straight games, and returning to the playing field without a real practice this week would be difficult. The guess here is next week against the Bears is more likely. Hobbs could help on the perimeter in place of Nixon or in the slot against Amon-Ra St. Brown if available.

No status designation

The following players do not have a status designation on the final injury report and will play Thursday CB Javon Bullard, QB Jordan Love, RB Josh Jacobs, LB Edgerrin Cooper, RT Zach Tom, WR Romeo Doubs, WR Christian Watson, WR Dontayvion Wicks.

Jacobs will return after missing last week’s win over the Vikings. The Pro Bowler will play through a knee contusion suffered in Week 11.

Lions injury report

The Lions ruled out center Graham Glasgow, safety Kerby Joseph, edge rusher Josh Paschal, receiver/returner Kalif Raymond and tight end Brock Wright, and eight players are questionable to play: cornerback Terrion Arnold, left tackle Taylor Decker, guard Miles Frazier, guard Tate Ratledge, right tackle Penei Sewell, receiver Isaac TeSlaa and running back Sione Vaki. By status designations on the final injury report, the Lions win, 13-8. Thursday is a matchup of two teams fighting the battle of attrition in Week 13.
