FOND DU LAC – Fond du Lac Police Department and several other agencies worked cooperatively to identify and arrest a bomb threat suspect, the department said Nov. 26.
The department received multiple bomb threats targeted at locations throughout the city between Nov. 21 and 24, and detectives identified a suspect believed to be responsible, linked to a possible Tomahawk address. Detectives also learned the suspect was connected to similar bomb threats in Tomahawk and Rhinelander, both in northern Wisconsin.
When another threat targeted Kewaskum High School Nov. 25, Fond du Lac detectives and the Kewaskum Police Department coordinated, finding the same suspect as a person of interest.
The detectives located and safely took the suspect into custody with additional support from Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, Rhinelander Police Department, Tomahawk Police Department and the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation.
The suspect, whose name was not immediately released, is being held in connection with multiple ongoing investigations from threats made across several Wisconsin jurisdictions.
The department extended gratitude to each agency in the news release, and Fond du Lac Lt. Nick Hahn said the case highlights the strength of interagency cooperation and the dedication of Wisconsin’s law enforcement professionals.
He said: “Thanks to swift coordination between departments, we were able to identify and apprehend the suspect before additional threats could be carried out. Public safety remains our top priority.”
