Indianapolis Colts defensive tackle DeForest Buckner has been nominated for the NFL’s Art Rooney Sportsmanship award for the fifth consecutive season on Wednesday.
This award is voted on by NFL players and is given to the player who “best demonstrates the qualities of on-field sportsmanship,” according to NFL.com
Buckner is currently on the Colts’ injured reserve list and has tallied four sacks, nine tackles for a loss, and 42 tackles in his nine games played this season.
He is eligible to return from injured reserve in Week 15 against the Seattle Seahawks. Shane Steichen provided a brief injury update on Buckner last week.
Against both the run and pass, Buckner has been a game-changer for this Colts’ defense.
The winner will be announced during the NFL Honors in February. Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen won the award last year.
