The driver of a Ford F-150 was traveling southbound on Victoria Avenue when he hit the man who had apparently been standing in the road, according to Oxnard police. The 66-year-old truck driver from Oxnard called police to report the crash and remained at the scene, police said.

Bystanders tried to provide lifesaving measures on the pedestrian, police said.

Police and paramedics responded and found the pedestrian lying in the roadway. The 41-year-old suffered major injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

While the investigation is still ongoing, police said neither speed nor impairment by alcohol or drugs appeared to be contributing factors.

Traffic through the area was affected because of the crash and subsequent investigation, police said.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact Officer Alexis Arellano at 805-385-7749 or via email at alexis.arellano@oxnardpd.org.
