The park on Mary Street in Milton was closed to the public while officers worked the scene, the department announced via Facebook. After arrival, they found 31-year-old Milton resident Tervon Jackson with multiple gunshot wounds. He died on scene.

Officers arrested 21-year-old Jayden Wright after a police K-9 tracked him and two others down when nearby witnesses told officers they saw three men fleeing the area just after the shooting — two of whom were wearing masks. All three were found hiding in the water near Pine Street within the city.

Despite all three being detained and questioned, Milton police said Wright is the only one so far arrested for the homicide. Two semi-automatic handguns were also found near the scene.

Milton police say the investigation remains ongoing and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement will be conducting forensic examinations of evidence found.

The News Journal reached out to Milton police but did not immediately receive a response.
