Gaylord soccer seniors lead postseason accolades after 2025 season

GAYLORD ― The 2025 Gaylord soccer season was one to remember, in more ways than one.

The season ended in heartbreaking fashion in overtime of an MHSAA Division 2 district semifinal at the hands of Traverse City St. Francis, but nothing that happened that day will overshadow what was one of GHS soccer’s most successful seasons in the past few years.

The Blue Devils finished with an 11-10-1 record, held ther own against conference opponents as well as top-ranked teams across the state while notching the program’s first victory over Petoskey since 2019. Now, the Blue Devils can look back at the individual successes they had as the all-conference, all-district and all-region honorees have been announced.

Senior Lucas Hella led the team with 22 goals and added 6 assists, also leading the team with first-team All-Big North honors as well as first-team all-district honors.

Fellow senior Kaden Sullivan was a first-team All-District and second-team All-BNC selection, totaling 9 goals and 4 assists in his final season as a Blue Devil.

Senior Matthew Vanderveer was a second-team All-BNC selection as well as an all-district honorable mention, totalling five goals and three assists.

Finally, freshman Colton Price was an honorable mention for both the all-district and All-BNC teams, scoring six goals and adding eight assists in his first season as a varsity soccer player. Juniors Iñigo Jiménez and Houghton Dreffs were honorable mention All-BNC, with Jiménez scoring eight goals and five assists while Dreffs totaled six goals and three assists.
