OAKFIELD – Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office revealed more information Nov. 24 about the Lomira man who died from a suspected unintended discharge of his firearm Nov. 22.
Michael Kottke, 24, was found deceased near a tree stand from an apparent gunshot wound on the first day of gun deer hunting season near Stumpf and Wild Goose roads in the town of Oakfield. A 911 call reported the incident just before 8:30 p.m.
According to his obituary, Kottke enjoyed not only hunting, but also fishing, golfing and — above all — spending time with his family. He’s survived by his wife, Lexi, a 5-month-old son, Maddox, and several other family members.
A GoFundMe page has been launched to support Kottke’s family. As of Nov. 24, $6,595 had been raised toward a $25,000 goal. The fund is at https://www.gofundme.com/f/tragic-loss-at-24-help-lexi-baby-maddox-through-this-hear.
The sheriff’s office and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources continue to investigate the incident.
