FSU cornerback commit is no longer a five-star prospect

The Florida State Seminoles have 26 players committed in their 2026 recruiting class, and cornerback Chauncey Kennon is the highest-ranked of the bunch. Up until Wednesday, he was considered a five-star prospect by 247Sports, but that is no longer the case.

They updated their rankings for the recruiting class on Wednesday, and he took a slight fall. His grade went from a 98 to 97, causing him to go from being the No. 28 player in the country to the No. 37. While he is still one of the best prospects in the country, he is no longer a five-star prospect.

Kennon took to social media to react to the change, saying, “That’s a bet, watch me work.”

Despite the slide, he is still FSU’s highest-ranked commit and set to be one of the highest-ranked players head coach Mike Norvell has ever landed. Kennon is now the No. 3 cornerback and No. 5 player from Florida in the updated rankings.

It wasn’t all bad news for the Seminoles on Wednesday; wide receiver commit Jasen Lopez and defensive lineman Franklin Whitley both saw their ranking improve and are now four-star prospects. Lopes is now the No. 224 overall player and No. 29 wide receiver, and Whitley is the No. 246 overall player and No. 33 defensive lineman.
