'Miracle on 34th Street' production headlines Area Happenings

Holiday Open House, 4-9 p.m., Friday, Victorian House Museum and Sieverdes Millersburg Glass Museum. $5 admission. All proceeds support the programs and preservation efforts of the Holmes County Historical Society.

“Miracle on 34th Street,” 7 p.m. Friday, Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, First Church of God, 1953 Akron Road, Wooster. Presented by the Bright Life Players of Wooster. General Admission is Adults $15, Children $10, Family 4-pack for $45. Tickets will be available at the door, but they can be purchased in advance on our website www.brightlifeplayers.org. 

Swiss Steak Dinner, 4-6 p.m. Saturday, Beach City American Legion Hall Post 549 (125, 3rd Ave. NE). Drive-thru Carry-Out only. Meal includes three-bean salad, applesauce, mashed potatoes/ homemade gravy, corn, bread and dessert for the cost of $14. We will also have available quarts of three-bean salad for $14.

Hauntings of the Ohio Highlands, 7 p.m. Monday, Cleo Redd Fisher Museum, CRF Museum Lecture Hall, located at 203 E. Main Street, Loudonville. Evening of mystery and folklore as acclaimed storyteller and historian Mark Sebastian Jordan. This event is free and open to the public.

English Country Dance, 7-9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, Valley College Grange, 2411 Shreve Road, Wooster. Live music by Fourpence. Susan English will be the dance leader for historic dances and music 1600 to present. Suggested donation $8 for adults, $5 for students. No partner or experience necessary. Please carry clean shoes and personal water flask. Future dates: Nov. 22; Jan. 24 and Feb. 28.

“A Christmas Carol,” 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, Wooster United Methodist Church, 243 North Market St., Wooster. Performed by Dr. Richard Figge.

Contra Dance, 7-9:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, Valley College Grange, 2411 Shreve Road. Live Celtic music by Pocketful O’Gimmick. Susan English calling longways sets, mixers and squares. Suggested donation: $8 for adults, $5 for students. No partner or experience necessary. Please carry clean shoes and a personal water flask. Future dates: Jan. 3; Feb. 7; March 7; April 4 and May 2.

MESSIAH by George Frederic Handel, 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, Central Christian School in Kidron. The Orrville Community Chorus will present its 80th annual performance. Wreaths Across America, 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, St. Genevieve Cemetery, 4527 Holmes County Road 229, Fredericksburg. Led by local volunteers, this annual event seeks to further the Wreaths Across America mission to Remember the Fallen, Honor their Service, and Teach the next generation the value of Freedom. This ceremony is open to the general public.
