Dalhart (7-1, 1-0) at Bushland (3-5, 0-1)

7 p.m. Friday, Falcon Stadium

Bushland plays host to a red-hot Dalhart squad this week in an important District 1-3A Division I matchup.

The Falcons fell to Shallowater 28-26 in Week 9, but head coach Josh Reynolds’ team seems to be hitting its stride after a 1-4 start to the season.

Starting quarterback Kannon Aven threw for more than 250 yards and 4 touchdowns in the Mustangs’ narrow win, as the first-year starter continues to settle into his new role. On the other sideline, Dalhart senior signal caller Hunter Trusler has led the Wolves to an impressive 2025 campaign.

Trusler stepped into his current role last season after an injury to Kyler Read, who is now on Hardin-Simmons’ football roster, and excelled since. After losing by one point to Class 4A Perryton in Week 2, Dalhart has reeled off six consecutive wins, scoring at least 39 points in each contest.

That includes a 42-35 win against Panhandle in Week 3, which started the Wolves win streak.

Friday’s matchup will be important for district seeding, with Dalhart looking to continue its hunt for a district title while Bushland looks for its first district win. In a four-team league, each contest is meaningful as schools jockey for playoff positioning.
