When the Iowa Hawkeyes return home in two weeks, they have a Big Ten matchup against the Penn State Nittany Lions. What once looked like a chance for Iowa to knock off one of the best teams in the country and a College Football Playoff contender has changed its tune.
Penn State has dropped its last two games, most recently to UCLA in a massive upset, and is plummeting in the rankings. Still a formidable team loaded with talent, the Iowa Hawkeyes will have an advantage when they come to town.

The Big Ten matchup has been set for 6 p.m. CT on Saturday, October 18th at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City, Iowa, and will be streamed on Peacock.
The Iowa Hawkeyes and Penn State Nittany Lions have met 32 times in their history, with the Nittany Lions holding an 18-14 advantage over Iowa, including the most recent matchup in 2023.
Before that, Iowa took the last two. Last time Penn State came to Kinnick Stadium, Iowa won 23-20 in a matchup of ranked teams to stay undefeated. The Hawkeyes also won handily in 2020, taking down Penn State 41-21 at Beaver Stadium. Before that, Penn State was riding a six-game winning streak spanning 2011 to 2019.
