Zeeland West faces a first-place battle with Hudsonville Unity Christian to lead the showdowns this week.

Here is a look at the Week 6 scouting reports.

West Ottawa at East Kentwood

WHEN: 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3

WHERE: East Kentwood High School

RECORDS: West Ottawa 1-4 (1-2 OK Red), East Kentwood 4-1 (2-1 OK Red)

LAST WEEK: West Ottawa beat Grand Haven 37-16, East Kentwood beat Caledonia 42-6

LAST MATCHUP: East Kentwood won 21-7 in 2024

SERIES HISTORY: East Kentwood leads 40-18

SCOUTING REPORT: The Falcons are led by quarterback Kayd Coffman, who has already committed to Michigan State. The potent offense has scored more than 40 points in all four wins this season. On the flip side, the Panthers are coming off of their first win. The offense looked good with the return of Elijah Reynolds, who scored three TDs. The defense looked good. But they will need to look great to pull the upset.

PREDICTION: East Kentwood 35, West Ottawa 21

Holland at Godwin Heights

WHEN: 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3

WHERE: Wyoming Godwin Heights High School

RECORDS: Holland 2-3 (0-2 OK Silver), Godwin Heights 3-1 (2-0 OK Silver)

LAST WEEK: Holland lost 60-20 to first-place Belding, Godwin Heights did not have a game

LAST MATCHUP: Holland won 48-24 in 2024

SERIES HISTORY: Holland leads 6-1-2

SCOUTING REPORT: Godwin Heights is much improved this season, already with wins over Lakewood, Comstock Park and Hopkins. The game with Comstock Park was similar to Holland’s game with Comstock Park – a shootout (44-41). It will likely be that kind of a game again as Eli Wolters and his receiving corps, led by Finn Galloway, Tanner Kingery and Andrew Andrlik have had a big season. It will come down to timely stops on defense.

PREDICTION: Holland 42, Godwin Heights 37

Holland Christian at East Grand Rapids

WHEN: 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3

WHERE: East Grand Rapids High School

RECORDS: Holland Christian 4-1 (1-1 OK Blue), East Grand Rapids 3-2 (1-1 OK Blue)

LAST WEEK: Holland Christian beat Ottawa Hills 55-0, East Grand Rapids beat Northview 10-3

LAST MATCHUP: Holland Christian won 21-20 in 2024

SERIES HISTORY: Holland Christian leads 1-0

SCOUTING REPORT: East Grand Rapids beat Northview in a close game last week and Northview beat the Maroons in a close game the week before. It looks to add up to another extremely close matchup. It could come down to a turnover or a special teams play. The Maroons were beat by Northview’s special teams. It is their turn to make something happen.

PREDICTION: Holland Christian 24, East Grand Rapids 21

Zeeland East at Wyoming

WHEN: 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3

WHERE: Wyoming High School

RECORDS: Zeeland East 3-2, (0-2 OK Gold), Wyoming 2-3 (0-2 OK Gold)

LAST WEEK: Zeeland East lost 38-14 to Zeeland West, Wyoming lost to South Christian 33-0

LAST MATCHUP: Zeeland East won 60-6 in 2024

SERIES HISTORY: Zeeland East leads 5-0

SCOUTING REPORT: The Chix struggled to get things going in the Bird Bowl last week and this will be an important week for them to not only get a win, but sharpen up some things to prepare for the stretch run toward the postseason.

PREDICTION: Zeeland East 34, Wyoming 12

Unity Christian at Zeeland West

WHEN: 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3

WHERE: Zeeland Stadium

RECORDS: Zeeland West 4-1 (2-0 OK Gold), Hudsonville Unity Christian 5-0 (2-0 OK Gold)

LAST WEEK: Zeeland West beat Zeeland East 38-14, Unity Christian beat Forest Hills Central 52-16

LAST MATCHUP: Unity Christian won 20-8 in 2024, the lone loss for the state champion Dux

SERIES HISTORY: Zeeland West leads 15-4

SCOUTING REPORT: Unity Christian is crushing opponents. The Crusaders scored 50 points against Whitehall, Zeeland East and Forest Hills Central, all playoff caliber teams. The lowest point total was 35 in a win over Forest Hills Eastern. Meanwhile, the defense has been nearly as good for Unity, not allowing 20 points in any games this year. … On the flip side, the Dux have survived two games with wins on the final play (and one loss on the final play). They are one play away from also being undefeated heading into this showdown. On paper this should be the game of the year and the conference title will likely come down to what happens this week. The Dux will have to keep up the staunch defense it has shown the past two weeks against two teams headed to the playoffs. The Dux allowed 20 points combined against South Christian and the Chix.

PREDICTION: Unity Christian 42, Zeeland West 36

Forest Hills Eastern at Hamilton

WHEN: 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3

WHERE: Hamilton High School

RECORDS: Hamilton 1-4 (0-2 OK White), Forest Hills Eastern 3-2 (1-1 OK White)

LAST WEEK: Hamilton lost 28-12 to Wayland, Forest Hills Northern lost 44-20 to Grand Rapids Christian

LAST MATCHUP: Forest Hills Eastern won 28-7 in 2024

SERIES HISTORY: Forest Hills Eastern leads 1-0

SCOUTING REPORT: Hamilton has had a tough-luck season and could easily be 3-2 if not for a missed two-point conversion and another last-minute score. Last week, three turnovers doomed the Hawkeyes, who moved the ball. They will need to be close to perfect this week.

PREDICTION: Forest Hills Eastern 28, Hamilton 20

Saugatuck at Galesburg-Augusta

WHEN: 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3

WHERE: Galesburg-Augusta High School

RECORDS: Saugatuck 2-3 (0-2 SAC Valley), Galesburg-Augusta 2-3 (0-2 SAC Valley)

LAST WEEK: Saugatuck lost 22-17 to Delton Kellogg, Galesburg-Augusta lost 62-24 to Lawton

LAST MATCHUP: Saugatuck won 52-14 in 2024

SERIES HISTORY: Saugatuck leads 7-1

SCOUTING REPORT: This game will be a battle of teams in a similar situation. Both teams looking to get back in playoff contention with a win. The Trailblazers had a tough loss last week, leading 17-7 in the fourth quarter only to take the loss. Saugatuck will need to be clean on both sides of the ball to get back on track.

PREDICTION: Saugatuck 21, Galesburg-Augusta 14

Fennville at West Michigan Lutheran

WHEN: 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3

WHERE: West Michigan Lutheran High School

RECORDS: Fennville 2-3 (0-2 SWMFL8), West Michigan Lutheran 1-4 (0-4 SWMFL8)

LAST WEEK: Fennville lost 42-14 to New Buffalo, West Michigan Lutheran lost 40-36 to Calvin Christian

LAST MATCHUP: West Michigan Lutheran won 62-24 in 2024

SERIES HISTORY: West Michigan Lutheran leads 2-0

SCOUTING REPORT: Despite the records, West Michigan Lutheran has lost to some of the best 8-person teams in West Michigan. Fennville will need a big defensive game to keep pace.

PREDICTION: West Michigan Lutheran 28, Fennville 21
