Children had the spotlight Sept. 25 for the 46th Ravenna Balloon A-Fair, which kicked off days of celebration with a parade in the city’s downtown area. Young ones were featured prominently in the parade, riding bikes along the route, or waving from convertibles as it moved long the route. The festival rolled into a weekend full of activities, such as the Saturday morning Grand Parade, and events for three days at at the Portage County Randolph Fairgrounds. Balloon inflations and liftoffs were planned all weekend, weather permitting. Parts of the celebration took place outside Ravenna for the first time, with events formerly held at Sunbeau Valley Farm moved to the fairgrounds in Randolph for the first time. The festival also included a fireworks show.
