Wichita Falls police said it happened at 3:59 a.m. in the 1000 block of Central Freeway.

“The preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer was southbound on the inside lane and struck the victim, who was standing in the roadway,” a Wichita Falls Police Department press release said.

The pedestrian woman transported to the hospital and was later pronounced deceased, the release said.

Later Thursday, police identified the woman as Sarah Beth Anderson, 35. Police said she was from Oklahoma.

“The accident remains under investigation. The victim’s name is not being released at this time as family has not yet been notified,” the release said.
