The Indianapolis Colts have released their unofficial depth chart ahead of the team’s Week 3 matchup against the Tennessee Titans.
For the most part, the depth chart this week mirrors what we saw a week ago, however, it does now reflect Jaylon Jones being on IR and Austin Ajiake being signed to the 53-man roster.
As always, here are a few notes and takeaways about where things stand, playing time-wise, at a few positions.
Indianapolis Colts Week 1 depth chart on offense
– Tyler Goodson was a full participant in Wednesday’s practice–a sign he could be available for the first time this week. If he is, I’ll be curious to see if the RB2 role is actually split, or if it’s Giddens getting most of those opportunities.
– As mentioned before, Tentua isn’t the true backup tackle; Jalen Travis is the swing tackle off the bench, filling in at either side as needed.
– Something to monitor on Thursday and Friday, both Josh Downs and Tyler Warren did not practice on Wednesday.
Indianapolis Colts Week 1 depth chart on defense
– As we saw last week, while Blackmon is listed as the backup nickel, he’s also the first option off the bench at outside cornerback. Johnathan Edwards will provide depth while Jaylon Jones is out.
– Ajiake is listed as the third middle linebacker, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he rotates with Joe Bachie next to Zaire Franklin. Defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo has said he likes getting multiple linebackers in the game, and Cameron McGrone is coming off a tough performance.
– Both Laiatu Latu and Charvarius Ward were practicing on Wednesday.
– Who can step up behind Grover Stewart and DeForest Buckner? Both played a lot of snaps on Sunday, but at a heavily rotated position like defensive tackle, having some steady depth is essential.
