The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a body was discovered in the Erie Canal near Great Embankment Park in Pittsford on Wednesday afternoon.
Deputies responded around 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 17 and confirmed the presence of a body in the canal that was “beyond help,” officials said.
The Pittsford Fire Department assisted in the recovery, according to Deputy David Marcucci.
No further updates are expected until the individual’s identity is confirmed and next of kin have been notified, officials said.
