FSU moves up in the recruitment for elite QB after recent visit

Florida State had over 100 recruits on campus last Saturday when they upset the Alabama Crimson Tide. One of them was five-star quarterback Kavian Bryant, a 2027 prospect.

The Palestine, Texas, product is being courted by a ton of schools with 26 offers. One of the biggest threats to FSU is the Texas Longhorns. However, Bryant was able to see what Florida State’s offense looked like in person under new offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn, and he came away liking everything that he saw.

“It means a lot,” Bryant said via 247Sports. “Gus [Malzahn] has done it before with Cam Newton, great players like that. Just being able to watch it in person felt right.”

It made Bryant very confident in his fit within Malzahn’s scheme.

“Very well.” said Bryant. “Like I said Gus has dealt with quarterbacks that are my type of playing style.”

Florida State extended an offer to Bryant back in January. However, his only visit before this past weekend was in February, which made it very important that they promoted the program well. According to Bryant, FSU is one of the top five schools in his recruitment.

“Them getting me out here, it shows love and that they really want me. If they keep pushing we’re going to see how it turns out,” Bryant said.

Bryant is the No. 35 recruit nationally and the No. 2 quarterback per 247Sports composite rankings. He’s also the No. 6 prospect in the state of Texas.

FSU should look to get Bryant to Tallahassee again before the season ends.
