Who are the next Buccaneers to get an extension after Luke Goedeke?

The Buccaneers continued their long-term roster building this week by signing right tackle Luke Goedeke to a four-year, $90 million extension. The deal makes Goedeke one of the NFL’s highest-paid right tackles and locks in a key piece of Tampa Bay’s offensive line through 2029. With Goedeke now secured, attention turns to two more 2022 draft picks entering the final year of their rookie contracts: cornerback Zyon McCollum and tight end Cade Otton.

McCollum is coming off a breakout 2024 season in which he started all 17 games and recorded 82 tackles, 17 pass breakups, and two interceptions.

With Carlton Davis gone and Jamel Dean dealing with injuries, McCollum stepped up as a dependable outside corner. He’s developed into a strong scheme fit in Todd Bowles’ defense and brings valuable length and athleticism to the position. At just 25 years old, he’s now a top candidate for an in-season extension.

On the offensive side, Otton has quietly become one of Tampa Bay’s most reliable pass-catchers. He posted career highs in 2024 with 59 receptions, over 600 yards, and four touchdowns. More importantly, he played more than 90 percent of the team’s offensive snaps and has grown into a steady blocker and target over the middle. While he won’t command top-tier tight end money, his consistency and durability make him a logical piece to keep in place for the long term.

With recent big-money deals handed out to Baker Mayfield, Antoine Winfield Jr., Chris Godwin Jr, and now Goedeke, Tampa Bay has prioritized keeping its core together. McCollum and Otton may not have the star power of those names, but they’ve become reliable and productive on both sides of the ball.

If both continue trending upward, they could be next in line for deals that keep them in Tampa well beyond 2025.
