3 Jaguars roster cuts end up claimed by new teams; Jacksonville doesn't make any additions

The Jacksonville Jaguars didn’t claim any players on waivers following roster cutdowns on Tuesday.

Their post-cutdown addition came via trade when they acquired wide receiver Tim Patrick from the Detroit Lions.

However, there were three players that the Jaguars released from their roster that ended up being claimed by other teams.

Linebacker Chad Muma will be joining the Indianapolis Colts. Defensive tackle Tyler Lacy was claimed by the Lions, while fellow defensive tackle Jordan Jefferson was claimed by San Francisco.

Muma was left on the outside looking in at linebacker with the emergence of Jack Kiser, who steadily flashed playmaking potential on defense, while also coming to the NFL with ample special teams experience–a role that Muma mostly filled.

Along with Kiser’s emergence, the linebacker room was quite crowded with the additions of Jalen McLeod and Dennis Gardeck this offseason, along with Devin Lloyd, Foye Oluokun, Ventrell Miller, and Yasir Abdullah all returning.

The defensive tackle position faced quite a few unknowns this summer, but really started to take shape in recent weeks. As of late, we saw the emergence of Austin Johnson, Maason Smith, and Arik Armstead returned to practice after navigating injuries, and the Jaguars traded for Khalen Saunders–all of which left Jefferson and Lacy off the roster.

Along with these three players getting claimed, Daniel Thomas–who was a free agent after being released–was signed by Detroit.
