The Miami Dolphins, in need of help in the secondary, signed cornerback Jack Jones, a starter for the Las Vegas Raiders last season.
Jones, 27, was the New England Patriots’ fourth-round pick out of Long Beach Tech in 2022.
For his career with the Patriots and Raiders, he has appeared in 42 games, starting 21, and has seven interceptions, with a knack for making quarterbacks pay for those mistakes. He has returned four of those seven INTs for touchdowns.
Jones is 5-feet-11 and 175 pounds.
He was graded as the 102nd-best corner in the league last season by Pro Football Focus. Pro Football Reference charged him with conceding eight touchdowns last season after allowing two in his career to that point.
Jones was arrested at Boston’s Logan Airport in 2023 after two loaded firearms were found in his carry-on. Charges were eventually dropped.
In other news, the Dolphins waived cornerback Ryan Cooper Jr.
