Detroit police are investigating the death of a man who reportedly fell down an elevator shaft at the shuttered former Southwest Detroit Hospital in Corktown July 12.
The incident occurred at about 1:33 a.m. Saturday, July 12, at the former hospital in the 2400 block of 20th Street. The adult male who died in the incident has not been identified by police.
A group reportedly entered the former hospital, and a man fell down an elevator shaft to his death. The circumstances surrounding the fatal incident are under investigation. The cause of death will also be examined by the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s office, police said.
