A 20-year-old is dead after motorcycle crash in the town of Westmoreland, according to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office.
At around 6 p.m. on July 11, the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office received a call for a fatal two-vehicle crash involved a motorcycle and an SUV on Bartlett Road in the town of Westmoreland.
The motorcycle, a 2024 Kawasaki, was being drive by William Ballou, 20, of Westmoreland.
He was driving northbound on Bartlett Road when a Honda CRV, driven by Lorraine Madell, 79, of Clinton, entered the roadway from a residential driveway on Bartlett Road, deputies said.
Upon entering the roadway, a crash occurred when Ballou’s motorcycle struck the driver’s side doors of Madell’s CRV, authorities said.
Ballou was pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said.
Madell was transported to Rome Hospital for a medical evaluation.
Members of the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Unit, Forensic Identification Unit and Accident Reconstruction Unit also responded to the scene where the crash is being reconstructed and is still under investigation.
