Poughkeepsie man accused of having child sex abuse images

New York State Police have accused a Poughkeepsie man of possessing child sexual exploitation material.

State police said Hamza Maanane, 29, of Poughkeepsie was arrested following a joint investigation by their Bureau of Criminal Investigation and their Computer Crimes Unit, and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

That investigation was launched in March after state police received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Chidren.

The investigation determined Maanane was in possession of digital images that were consistent with child sexual exploitation material, state police said.

Maanane was charged with 16 counts of possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child under the age of 16, a felony.

He was released and issued a ticket to appear in Town of Poughkeepsie Court on July 29.

The name of Maanane’s attorney was not immediately available.
