We asked, you answered. The best place to get a burger in Livingston County is …

There are few foods as tasty and customizable as a burger. You can grill them in the backyard, grab them at the drive-through, or find them on the menu of most pubs and restaurants in town.

You can top them with cheese and ketchup, or barbecue sauce, or bacon and eggs, or macaroni and cheese. You can make theme burgers, from tacos to pizza to classic. You can choose your rarity, cooking the meat to your liking (assuming, of course, you’re making a classic beef burger — but let’s not forget about turkey or veggie patties).

With so many options to choose from, it’s easy to pick a favorite (or two). So, we asked our readers for nominations on where they fill their burger fix in Livingston County, then compiled a poll.

The results revealed an overwhelming favorite, with one restaurant earning nearly three-quarters of the vote. For a total of 73.93%, Bloated Goat Saloon was far and away the winner.

The restaurant at 141 E. Grand River Ave. in Fowlerville has operated for decades serving burgers and sandwiches. Tasty options include the signature Goat with two, one-third pound patties made fresh; the single-patty Billy Goat; and the triple-patty Mountain Goat.

According to reporting by The Daily in 2017, the restaurant’s name and fat-bellied goat imagery are known across the U.S.

Second place went to George’s Restaurant, which drew 12.35% of the vote. The runner-up finish continues a string of showings for George’s, which recently earned the title of best breakfast and best place to get an affordable meal.
