FSU surging with elite Nebraska CB commit after visit

Florida State has had its eyes locked on four-star cornerback CJ Bronaugh, who is committed to the Nebraska Cornhuskers, since last May when they offered him. Over the weekend, the Seminoles hosted Bronaugh for an official visit, which came a week after visiting Nebraska.

Bronaugh was able to spend time with the coaching staff and interact with players during his visit. It was an eye-opener for the 6-foot-1, 166-pounder, and it has put Florida State at the top of his list of options.

“It wasn’t what I was expecting. They’re high up on the board now. Just like the culture that they have and the development pieces too,” Bronaugh told Noles247.

Spearheading the Seminoles’ efforts during the visit were defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr. and safeties coach Evan Cooper. However, Bronaugh had a lot of time to catch up with head coach Mike Norvell as well.

Norvell has a reputation for having a lot of energy and passion. He also preaches the importance of being a well-rounded individual overall, which intrigues Bronaugh.

“He was telling me I’m a priority. He’s going to want me for more than just football, but for who I am as a person,” said Bronaugh.

Bronaugh performed very well as a junior. He registered 30 tackles (all solo), three tackles for loss, six interceptions, four pass breakups, two sacks, one forced fumble, and one blocked field goal.

Per the 247Sports composite rankings, Bronaugh is the No. 99 overall recruit in the country and the No. 12 cornerback. They also have the 6-foot-1, 165-pounder as the No. 12 prospect in the state of Florida.
